eWayDirect, Inc., a full-service ESP (emarketing service provider), has launched a new email marketing tool designed to drive sales from customers who abandon e-commerce Web sites without making a purchase. e-commerce site owners can identify customers and email subscribers each time they visit and automatically send follow up emails to opt-in subscribers who fail to make a purchase. eWayDirect says their Web Site Reengagement tool generates up to 10 times more sales than regular email campaign messages, with open rates exceeding 50%. With $4.00+ for a gallon of gas, and sky rocketing grocery prices, dedicated couponers are finding that they have lots more company.
According to the Associated Press, CMS Inc., a coupon processing agent and promotions logistics service, reports that Americans redeemed 2.6 billion coupons in 2007, reversing a 16 year decline in coupon use. Coupons Inc., The GroceryGame.com, the Coupon Mom, and coupon processors and promoters are also seeing increased traffic.
And coupons aren’t just for the 50-something crowd; younger shoppers are also using coupons although they’re seeking them online instead of more traditional media.

A just-released study from “The Email Experience Council” (EEC) says emails optimized for image blocking positively impact revenue by raising the roi per dollar spent on it to $52.69 from $48.29.
The study of email design practices of “104 top online retailers”, and 472 marketers revealed that “more than 50% of the images in promotional emails are routinely blocked by email and web mail programs,” and “23% of retailers send emails that are completely unintelligible when images are disabled.”
