Child Advertising Regulations

The Chidren's Advertising Review Unit (CARU) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc. was founded in 1974 as part of a strategic alliance with the National Advertising Review Council.

It evaluates national advertising, promotions and online privacy practices directed to children under 12.

It also focuses on online data collection and other privacy-related practices by website operators "that target children under 13 years of age or that know or should know that a visitor is a child under 13 years of age."
