Cash Basis

Companies consider revenue to be received, or "recognized", different ways. One method is the accounting practice of recording sales and expenses when cash is actually received or paid out, as opposed to accrual basis accounting which reports income when received and expenses when paid. 

May also be referred to as the cash method of accounting.
